It’s time to take stock of the second edition of the Trapani Film Festival, the celebration of cinema born from the collaboration between Italy and America, thanks to the 3 Points Productions of the artistic directors Francesco Torre and Michael Carlo Allen and with the patronage of the Municipality of Trapani – Department of Tourism and Culture, directed by Rosalia d’Alì.The 2024 edition of the TFF also left its mark after last year’s excellent attendance, increasing the numbers of Casina delle Palme and receiving the acclaim of artists and critics.

This year, over 600 applications for cinematographic works on the Film Freeway platform. The technical jury, led by director Gianpiero Pumo and made up of industry experts, critics, actors, journalists, evaluated the deserving productions that, after various screenings, reached the finals at the Trapani Film Festival, which took place from 20 to 23 June. “The outcome of this second edition is more than positive and on the wave of this enthusiasm we are already working on the third TFF full of new features and with the support of the University of Palermo, which has already actively supported the Trapani Film Festival this year. We have so many ideas buzzing around in our heads,” says Francesco Torre.

Below are the winners of the various categories:

Best Short Film ‘Assunta’ by Luana Rondinelli (with Donatella Finocchiaro Antonio Pandolfo Bruno Di Chiara Mattia Libeccio);

Best Feature Film ‘U scrusciu du mari’ by Riccardo Cannella (with Manuela Ventura, Ivan Olivieri, Francesco Russo);

Best Documentary Over 30′: ‘The Hands of Venus’ by Dario Indelicato;

Best Documentary under 30 minutes: ‘Il posto del padre’ by Francesco D’Ascenzo;

Best Student Film – Award for schools and universities: ‘L’orgoglio di Alice’ by Nicolò Canestrelli;

Best Sicilian Production – Special Award: ‘Vulemu l’acqua (The Scream of the Woods’) by Norman Vitale and Francesco Zummo;

Several awards for the artists who took turns on the red carpet:

the young Angela Curri collected the award for Best New Actress of the 2023-2024 season;

actors Orio Scaduto, Domenico Centamore and Michele La Ginestra received the Lifetime Achievement Award;

the actor, director and dialogue coach Alessio Piazza, received the ‘Artist son of the territory’ Award;

Raffaele Vannoli received the Best Actor Award for the film ‘C’è ancora domani’ by Paola Cortellesi;

Beatrice Fazi was awarded the ‘Soffio di sale’ prize;

Manuela Ventura wins the ‘Artist Heritage of the Territory’ Award;

Matranga and Minafò won two awards, the ‘Prime Gems’ for the film ‘Gli Attassati’ (Amazon Prime) and the ‘Producers of the Year’ for the film Ciurè, winner of the Trapani Film Festival 2023;

godmother Ester Pantano received the Trapani Film Festival Award.
