MESSINA – The “Portale Ingombranti” project is born. A portal deemed “innovative” and designed by Messina Servizi Bene Comune as part of the “Estate Addosso” initiative of Messina Social City and the Municipality of Messina. The bulky waste collection service, previously managed via a call center, thanks to technological innovation, will allow citizens to make reservations directly from their device. “This tool was designed to simplify booking bulky waste collection, offering a more efficient and accessible service,” it is highlighted.

The project was announced last April by the mayor Federico Basile and the president of Messina Servizi Bene Comune Mariagrazia Interdonato during the meeting with Samuele Zoccoli (pictured with Basile), a student of Computer Engineering at the University of Messina, which was also attended by the president of Messina Social City Valeria Asquini.
Zoccoli worked on the creation of the innovative portal conceived by Messinaservizi Bene Comune as part of the “Estate Addosso” initiative, at the headquarters in via Gagini during his internship, making the most of his skills.

It is stated in a press release: “The student, in recent months, has finalized the portal under the guidance of the Messinaservizi Bene Comune team, with technical updates and the introduction of the Spid/Cie authentication system and today it is finally online”.
Mayor Federico Basile expressed his satisfaction with the completion of the project, underlining the importance of the synergy between the subsidiaries and the valorization of young talents. “With projects like Estate Addosso, we not only support the development of talents and skills, but we also allow young people to leave their mark. It is exciting to see how, thanks to this initiative, a portal so useful for citizens has been created,” said the mayor.

“A useful tool for correct differentiation and to combat waste abandonment”

Mariagrazia Interdonato, president of Messina Servizi Bene Comune, added: “Thanks to Samuele’s contribution and the commitment of our team, today we are able to offer the citizens of Messina a cutting-edge service, in line with our vision of corporate innovation. This portal will not only improve waste management, but will also help promote proper differentiation and combat waste abandonment, a problem we are addressing with the awareness campaign #machitelofafare”.
The press release from the Municipality also states: “The portal, which integrates the Spid or Cie authentication system to guarantee the security and privacy of users, is now active and available to all citizens. To access the service, simply visit the Messinaservizi Bene Comune website and follow a few simple steps to book the collection of bulky waste directly from your device. Users will have to enter the necessary information, such as the address and collection area, the type of waste and the quantity of pieces, a brief description of the objects, the user’s Tari tax code and a telephone number. After completing the booking, they will receive a document via email, to print and affix to the objects to be collected. In addition, it will be possible to manage and cancel bookings and consult the FAQs (the questions most frequently asked by users of a certain service, ed.) for any doubts”.
Councilor for Environmental Policies Francesco Caminiti highlighted the importance of adapting to the times and embracing innovation: “In an era in which technology advances rapidly, it is essential that public services also evolve accordingly, responding to the needs of citizens and improving the quality of life in Messina. Innovation is the engine that will allow us to build a more sustainable and environmentally friendly city”.
