Four people were surprised and arrested by the Carabinieri in a villa in Francolise, in the Caserta area, while they were busy producing and packaging explosive devices, which can also be used for dynamite attacks. Arrested for the crime of illegal possession of explosives were a 47-year-old from Calvizzano (Naples), a 42-year-old from Sparanise (Caserta) and two Nigerians, a 38-year-old and a 35-year-old, both residents of Castel Volturno. At the end of the operation, the Carabinieri of the Capua company seized over 135,000 explosive devices and gunpowder for a weight of just over eight tons and an estimated retail value of more than 2 million euros. The pyrotechnic material was found to be improvised, without any authorization and without individual safety and fire prevention systems. The manufacturing and handling, as confirmed by the military, took place on unsuitable benches and the loading of the devices by filling the cylinders, with the loss of components of the mixtures on the floor.

Among the explosive substances found, there are also well-known and dangerous ones such as TNT, T4 and pentyrite, whose combustion produces enormous quantities of gas at very high pressure. which expand almost instantaneously at a speed ranging from 1,000 to 9,000 m/s, capable of causing a very high disruptive and destructive effect. The Carabinieri of the Anti-Sabotage Artificer Unit of Naples also intervened, cataloging what was found and placing it under seizure. The place, made safe, is currently under surveillance by the Carabinieri and will be until the completion of the cataloguing activities and the transfer of the material to a suitable storage site.
