«The Av/Ac Salerno – Reggio Calabria is a fundamental infrastructure for the relaunch of the South and the modernization of the country. A priority work that guarantees the continuity of an itinerary, passengers and goods, strategic for the connection between the North and the South, between Italy and Europe. For this reason, by virtue of my ministerial delegations to the commissioned works, I follow the activities in progress with the utmost attention. The interventions, despite the technical complexity and the need to reconcile the needs of the communities, proceed in line with the expected times, thus allowing the delivery to the territory and the country of lot 1a Battipaglia – Romagnano by 2026″. This is stated by the Undersecretary of State at the MIT, Tullio Ferrantewho met with Rfi’s investment director, Eng. Lucio Menta. «The work, divided into functional lots, will guarantee access to the high-speed / high-capacity railway system to various territories with a strong tourist and productive vocation – adds the Undersecretary – with a view to providing the entire country with an infrastructure that is essential for growth and competitiveness. During the meeting, an update was also made on the progress of the activities regarding the enhancement, with high-speed characteristics, of the Taranto – Metaponto – Potenza – Battipaglia railway line and the new Ferrandina – Matera La Martella railway line for connecting Matera to the national railway network, for which the forecast is to respect the expected timescales in line with the PNRR. The construction of such important works for the country requires maximum synergy between the institutions and bodies involved in various capacities, both to ensure the rapid implementation of the interventions and the full application of the legality protocols. I will continue to work to accelerate infrastructure investmentswhich – concludes Ferrante – are the real key to the social and economic development of the South and also of Italy».
