The collaboration between Spazio Seme International Art Center and Men/go Music Fest-Associazione Music is renewed again this year: for many summers now these two entities of the Arezzo cultural world have collaborated to offer the city a cultural proposal that is always of a high level, interdisciplinary and intercultural. This year the two entities are collaborating on the occasion of three important concerts:

JULY 9

“OLD ITALY” CONCERT

MUSICAL TALES OF THE SWING ERA

SEED SPACE – 9.15 PM

This year the collaboration opens on the first evening of Men/go Music Fest: In fact, on July 9th at 9.15pm, “Vecchia Italia” will be performed at Spazio Semeswing music concert with the Papillon Vintage swing band.

The spotlight will be on an extraordinary representation of Italy of the past, when music resounded in the streets and hearts of Italians. This engaging show retraces the history of Italian music during the golden years of swing, offering an unforgettable journey into collective memory.

Through an explosion of great successes of the time and small historical stories, the audience will be led into a magical atmosphere filled with nostalgia and overwhelming emotions. On stage, the Papillon Vintage Swing Band while lights and shadows dance on the stage, with suggestive atmospheres of an era that has left an indelible mark on the history of Italian music.

JULY 27

CONCERTO “JAZZ ON BROADWAY”

PETRARCA THEATRE – 9.15 PM

The event continues on Saturday 27 July at 9.15pm at the Teatro Petrarca with the concert “Jazz on Broadway”. For the third consecutive year, this important concert on the history of jazz offers the city of Arezzo a repertoire taken from the best Broadway musicals.

It is the final concert of the “Opera Seme Festival”, the festival which has also reached its second edition, which brings to Arezzo over 20 singers from American universities who here in Arezzo and in Tuscany, grow professionally and culturally, improve their musical profile with high-level masterclasses and give back to the city concerts and performances of operas staged during the week of the festival dedicated to Opera (23-27 July), directed by Gianni Bruschi and Matthew Schloneger.

In the concert dedicated to Broadway, organized together with Men/go Music Fest, the atmospheres of Porgy & Bess, Les miserables, The Phantom of Opera, The sound of music, Sister Act, The Wizard of Oz, Aladdin and more will be retraced, enriched by Jazz standards composed by George Gershwin, Richard Rogers, Harold Arlen and many others. Accompanying the voices, a 12-piece ensemble formed by Jazz musicians who will join the string quartet of OIDA Orchestra Instabile di Arezzo directed by Lorenzo Rossi.

The concert also includes a dance performance with young American dancers in residence at Spazio Seme for the dance program “Moving environment”, under the artistic direction of Leonardo Lambruschini and Consuelo Pacheco in collaboration with Western Washington University.

SEPTEMBER 5

CONCERTO D’ESTATE

SEED SPACE – 9.15 PM

Saturday 5 September voice and piano concert by Gianni Bruschi and Santiago Fernandez at Spazio Seme: “Concerto d’estate”. A musical project that ranges from the repertoire of the great Italian singer-songwriters to Mediterranean ethnic music, from Jazz classics to Afro-American spirituals.

Great successes made famous by Mina, Morricone, Modugno, Vanoni, Aznavour will be performed without neglecting the roots and wisdom of the popular music of southern Italy with references to Arabic songs such as Ahu dalli sar by the Lebanese Fairuz, and references to Sufi culture.
