A total of 1483 athletes representing 315 companies, to compete for the 40 Italian titles up for grabs (20 masculine, 20 (feminine) in the 3 race days: here are the numbers of the Italian Student Championships Of Molfetta (Bari) scheduled in Puglia from Friday 5 to Sunday 7 July at the Mario Saverio Cozzoli stadium, the facility that hosted the absolute event last season. This time the focus is on the young talents of Italian athletics, many of whom will be part of the Italian team that will participate in the U18 European Championships in Banska Bystrica (Slovakia) from 18 to 21 July. It is a category in which you can breathe energy and enthusiasm, that of the athletes born in 2007 and 2008, inspired by the Italian champions who did wonders at the European Championships in Rome. Two, in particular, have stood out in recent weeks: the long jumper Daniele Inzoli (Atl. Riccardi Milano), still fifteen years old and already landed at 7.90, the best world measurement of the year for an under 18 (he is also registered in the 100), and the seventeen year old Elisa Valence (Atl. Bergamo 1959 Oriocenter) who in a few days rewrote not only the best Italian U18 performances but also the records of the higher category (U20) in the 200 meters (23.15) and in the 400 (52.50), before jumping on the podium at the Italian Championships in La Spezia in the 200 (third), a specialty she chose for Molfetta.
There are many prospects who will be able to confirm the seasonal improvements and look for new ones, starting with the sprinters Fabrizio Caporusso (Libertas Atl. Forlì) and Viola Canovi (Calcestruzzi Corradini Excelsior) who last Saturday in Castelfranco Emilia, with 10.48 and 11.62 respectively, rose to third place in the Italian lists of all-time students. Also in speed, the two-hundred-meter runner Diego has already given proof of his potential Button (Atl. Porto Torres, 9.17pm), and the multifaceted Margherita Castellans (Arcs Cus Perugia), in the top ten of all time in all specialties with 11.67, 23.65 and 54.09, and the four hundred meter runner Laura Frattaroli (Tespiense Quartu, 54.60). All to follow the 110 hurdles with Kyan Escalona (Kronos Roma) able to run in 13.45, two hundredths from the national limit of Mattia Di Panfilo, and already at the record of the 60hs (7.69) and that of the 110hs with the barriers of the greats (14.40), and in the women’s category Vittoria is climbing the hierarchies Masiero (Assindustria Sport).
In the middle distance, full growth for Alessandro Big houses (Calcestruzzi Corradini Excelsior) who recently in Rubiera reached 1:49.46 in the 800, seven tenths from Simone Barontini’s MPI, and can also go in search of the title in the 1500, while in history only Stefano Mei, current federal president, as a student ran faster than Vittore Simone Borromini (Toscana Atl. Jolly) 8:10.78 in the 3000. Also keep an eye on the indoor record holder Alessandro Saint Angelo (Atl. Virtus Lucca) and among the women to the nineteenth-century runner Elena Irbet (Spezia Duferco) and to the hurdler Giorgia Franzolini (Euroatletica 2002). In the race walk, Serena clocked 22:23.12 By Fabio (Polisport. Tethys Chieti), obtained in Molfetta, was recognized as MPI U18 of the 5000 on the track as the 22:20.46 of Noemi Stella in 2014 had been achieved in a mixed race. In the throws, the javelin thrower Pietro has made notable progress. Villa (Kronos Roma) who with almost three and a half meters of upgrade (74.89) got close to Giovanni Frattini’s MPI (75.25) with the 700 gram tool. Spotlight also on the discus thrower Francesco D’Angelo (Pietro Mennea Atl.) and on the weightlifter Anita Nalesso (Trevisatletica). In the jumps, said of Inzoli, second only to Mattia Furlani in the history of the long jump for students (Mattia 8.04, Daniele 7.90), Elisa also jumped into the top ten Valenti (Atl. Siracusa) 13.05 in the triple jump and Ludovica Dukes (Atl. Trento) 3.91 in the auction.
