Marco Algeri new general secretary of Silp CGIL Sicily

53 years old, from Enna, the new general secretary of Silp CGIL Sicilia is Marco Algeri, elected today unanimously by the regional board of the category. The vote saw the participation of the national general secretary of Silp, Pietro Colapietro, and the general secretary of CGIL Sicilia, Alfio Mannino. Algeri takes the place of Sebastiano Roccuzzo.

Profile and Commitment: Algeri has a degree in International Studies and Euro-Mediterranean Relations and is the superintendent of the State Police as well as the Focal Point manager of the Enna police headquarters. Over the years he has demonstrated a constant commitment to defending the rights of police workers. Among his most significant battles, the one in 2017 stands out, conducted together with the national secretariat, which led to the application of art. 42 bis of Legislative Decree 151/2001 to the State Police. This victory allowed a mother police officer to be transferred to be able to stay with her baby of a few months.

New Regional Secretariat: Together with Algeri, the members of the new regional secretariat were also elected. Valentina Leone (Palermo), Gabriella Bartolotta (Messina), Luca Sanfilippo (Enna), Raffaele Zappalà (Siracusa) and Romualdo Vacchi (Palermo) will collaborate with him. “We will work together – declared Algeri – to improve working conditions in all Sicilian Police offices”.
