The integrated cultural system “Città di Fondazione Agro Pontino e Romano” has obtained accreditation from the Lazio Region useful for the assignment of funding for the valorization of the artistic heritage.

“It is a result of the cultural policies of this municipal administration,” said the mayor of Latina Matilde Celentano, explaining that the Municipality of the capital, as the leader of the network, which also includes the municipal entities of Colleferro, Guidonia Montecelio, Pomezia, Pontinia and Sabaudia, was able to guide the procedures so that the Integrated Cultural System project could continue. “Indispensable,” the mayor underlined, “was also the institutional collaboration, not only of all the participating Municipalities that expressed interest in moving forward with the project that received initial funding in 2020, but also of the Regional Culture Directorate and Lazio Creativo Cultural Services and Promotion of Reading of the Lazio Region, which offered significant support.”

With the first regional contribution, the network of Foundation Cities has carried out communication actions, such as the creation of the logo, the coordinated image, the web portal consisting of an integrated multi-channel technological platform, the interactive maps-QrCode audio guides and the distribution of information totems on the territory.

“Now we are waiting for the calls from the Lazio Region – said Mayor Celentano – to request new contributions in order to organize in a synergic way with the other Municipalities the renewal of the integrated cultural itineraries already started and to implement the offer through itinerant initiatives and guided visits in the cities of foundation. All with the aim of attracting tourists to our territory and the territories of the network. The participating Municipalities in the meantime, and by the end of the year, will have to sign a new agreement”.

“The ‘City of Foundation Agro Pontino and Romano’ project – the mayor recalled – was born from the need to bring together in a homogeneous institutional framework the cultural and tourist offer of a region with a thousand-year history. The phenomenon of the foundation of the New Cities of the twentieth century therefore offers the opportunity to gather in a single container the results of a continuous anthropological, historical and cultural evolution, which the process of anthropization has sedimented on the territory. Within the system, all the experiences of valorization of the individual participating Municipalities can find the right space and adequate placement in the perspective of an integrated and participatory use by the citizen”.

The leader of the system is the Municipality of Latina, specifically, the Duilio Cambellotti Museum which constitutes the hub and strategic direction of the project network, for the planning, organization, enhancement and promotion of the new territorial cultural-tourist offer. “I thank the director of the Cambellotti Antonia Lo Rillo for the work done and for what awaits him also in the context of the Network of Museums of the province of Latina recently created and which already has new members”.

“Network systems – concluded Mayor Celentano – promote the development of new sensibilities, skills and professionalism in the cultural and tourist fields through the creation of opportunities for exchange, participation and comparison. The design of a shared training offer between cultural venues allows for the rapid diffusion of best practices and the creation of a common basis of experiences among operators in the area”.
