Sicily at the center to share good practices and make the investment of European funds more effective. This morning the European workshop opened, organized by the Interact program management authority with the support of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers – Department for Cohesion Policies and the South and the Department of Programming of the Sicilian Region, entitled “Cooperation actions: how to break down barriers to build sustainable partnerships between the management authorities of European programs for growth and employment”.
Numerous participants from all over Europe and belonging to the various authorities responsible for managing the programmes financed by the ERDF and ESF+ and Interreg funds, with the aim of discussing ways to break down barriers and build lasting cooperation for better economic, social and inclusive development.
The event, for the first time in Sicily, represents an opportunity for visibility and enrichment for the Region and offers the occasion to illustrate to a large audience of experts, potential partners and representatives of the European Commission, the peculiarities of the management of cooperation programs co-financed by European funds with a view to integration with the so-called “mainstream” programs.

“In a context characterized by increasingly complex economic and social challenges and problems, which can also be solved through European cooperation – says Daniela Segreto, head of the Territorial Cooperation Area at the Programming Department of the Sicilian Region – this important event that sees Sicily at the center of Europe takes on the delicate task of facilitating the exchange of knowledge and strengthening collaboration with the different countries, through their own Management Authorities. This will be possible thanks to the sharing of good practices and useful tools for building effective cooperation mechanisms”.
Special attention will be paid to discussing practical difficulties and solutions related to the activity of programming, development and partner search in the field of cooperation. The workshop will end tomorrow morning, Wednesday, July 3.
