On July 2, work began again on completing the redevelopment of the bus station in Piazzale San Francesco, an intervention for which a variation report approved by the Council about ten days ago was necessary.
The intervention, of which TUA is the implementing body, is financed under the Abruzzo Masterplan for 562,500 euros and includes, among other things, the arrangement of the parking area, the reorganization of the stalls, the installation of shelters, new lighting. The new works, as already communicated, will involve the entire steel structure, with an intervention extended to the entire building and not only to the portion subject to intervention of the Masterplan, which will allow the redevelopment of the bathroom area and the waiting room but also the bar premises, for a cost of approximately 62,000 euros, allocated by the Municipality.
“We had committed, together with Tua, to restart the work by July and so it was – underlines the Mayor Gianguido D’Alberto – just over a week ago we had approved the relative variation in the Council and this morning, in collaboration with Tua, a strategic intervention for our city was restarted. According to the schedule, the work to renovate the square should be completed by autumn and by the end of January Tua should return the station completely renovated”.
“As an Administration, we will continue to carefully monitor the work – comments the Councilor for Public Works Marco Di Marcantonio – with a view to maximum collaboration with the implementing body, in the awareness of the importance of this work. We are and will be together with TUA in the executive phase, trying to shorten the intervention times and limit to a minimum the inevitable inconveniences that every construction site brings with it. Thanks to this intervention, the face of the bus station will radically change and the safety conditions for pedestrians and for users who use the various services will also be improved”.
As communicated by TUA, the construction site will proceed with scheduled closures of portions of Piazzale San Francesco, so as not to interrupt the TPL service of the Municipality of Teramo, starting from the southern area of the square, in correspondence with the sidewalk of the Ragusa ring road.
To allow the work to be carried out correctly, a special ordinance has been adopted which provides, starting today and until the end of the work, a ban on transit and parking for all vehicles, with the additional penalty of forced removal, in the southern portion of Piazzale San Francesco, precisely in correspondence with the pavement of Circonvallazione Ragusa;
the ban on transit and parking in the whole of Piazzale San Francesco for all vehicles with the exception of vehicles used for public transport, vehicles used by the Highway Police and those used for emergency aid and emergency response and construction site vehicles;
access to Piazzale San Francesco exclusively from Ponte San Francesco with exit permitted only in the direction of Circonvallazione Ragusa.
Public transport vehicles that must continue from Piazzale San Francesco in the direction of Via Alcide De Gasperi must follow the Circonvallazione Ragusa-Ponte San Gabriele-Via Alcide De Gasperi route.
The ordinance also provides that any parking spaces for public transport vehicles may be located, in line, on the left of the lane in the direction from Ponte San Francesco towards Circonvallazione Ragusa, immediately adjacent to the construction site fence, by the executing company.
