Six starred chefs, four courses, a thousand seats at a single table along a 400-meter path: these are the magical ingredients that make up “The Extraordinary Dinner” planned for next September 13th in CatanzaroThe food and wine event is organized by the association “City of the Wind”, which has been involved in cultural promotion for years, overcoming the obstacles of social hardship through forms of aggregation and training.
Solidarity and enhancement of the territory are, in fact, the objectives of the dinner that will spread Mediterranean flavors along a long stretch of Corso Mazzini, the “good living room” of the city. «Inspired by the success of “La Cena dei Mille”, a culinary experience created by the Parma Unesco City of Gastronomy Foundation in the Emilian city, we decided to create an event of this caliber for the first time in our region, adapting it to our geographical context, with an eye on charity» declares Alessandro Astorino, president of “Città del vento”.
His idea was immediately shared with enthusiasm by the six Calabrian chefs awarded with the prestigious Michelin star recognition: Luca Abbruzzino, Luigi Lepore, Nino Rossi, Caterina Ceraudo, Antonio Biafora and Riccardo Scullicoordinated by chef Antonio Abbruzzino. The mastery of their dishes, carefully prepared in a mobile kitchen together with about 200 units, including kitchen brigades – 10 brigade cooks for each chef – and dining room brigades – 80 waiters and 10 maitres – and 20 sommeliers, will make the flavor of an Extraordinary Calabria even more valuable and recognizable, as the promotional claim of the Calabria Region states. In addition to the promotion of the Mediterranean beauty of the Calabrian land, the noble goal of “The Extraordinary Dinner” shines: the proceeds of the evening, excluding expenses, will be donated to “The Insurmountables”, an amateur sports association that, together with a team of testimonials led by Giorgio Chiellini, operates at a national level promoting football as a tool for socialization and integration for people with various types of disabilities.
Thereby, overcoming obstacles and prejudicesit will be possible to ensure hours of training for a large number of boys and girls with cognitive, physical or sensorial disabilities, at the 17 Football Schools of “Gli Insuperabili” throughout the country, especially in Catanzaro. Such a prestigious event could not have had any other name, which, in addition to involving institutions such as the Calabria Region, the Province and the Municipality of Catanzaro who will sponsor the event, foresees the partnership with dozens of companies in the agri-food sector who will supply the raw materials. Great mobilization is also being recorded among citizens, professional orders and local businesses: everyone is making their skills available for the exclusive event which, through a identity menuwill celebrate Calabrian excellence, its many excellent DOP and IGP products, its magnificent DOC and IGT wines, enhanced to the maximum by the six stars of the Calabrian food and wine firmament.
