Varese, 2 July 2024 – The Regional Council Lombardy has allocated 120 thousand euros for the Prealpine Geophysical Center of Varese, with the aim of ensuring the continuity of activities, of significant scientific value, also in the field of seismic and weather forecasting. The Geophysical Center, which is based in the dacha of Villa Baragiola, carries out important monitoring, forecasting and prevention activities. It manages numerous meteorological stations and a sensor of the seismic surveillance network, in collaboration with the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV). The funds will be provided by Arpa Lombardia, the Regional Agency for the Environment. “Useful resources – said the Lombardy Councilor for Security, Romano La Russa – for an excellent reality. This funding represents a concrete commitment by the Regional Council to ensure the continuity of seismic and meteorological monitoring activitieswhich are essential for the safety and protection of the Lombardy region. The Prealpine Geophysical Centre plays a crucial role in the prevention and forecasting of natural events. Their work not only enriches the scientific heritage of our region, but also provides data and analysis essential for Civil Protection and the protection of citizens. Our goal is to continue to support and enhance the activities of the Center, always ensuring a very high level of competence and professionalism”.
