Cancelled trains, Castrataro: this is how isolation increases

First day of cuts for trains from Isernia to Rome and from Isernia to Caserta, yesterday. Cancellations reported in recent days by the Commuters’ Committee, which through a complaint launched in the media made it known that from the first days of July it would be impossible to get on the train departing from Isernia at 7.45 and arriving at around 10 in the capital. In fact, the option was no longer bookable on the Trenitalia website starting from the beginning of July: instead of that race, a Frecciargento is available with a ticket costing around 50 euros compared to around 16 for the regional train. The same fate also applies to the 9.35 train and the evening trains from Rome at 19:35 and 20:35.
The cancellation also affected the route to and from Caserta in the same way, with two outward and two return trips. Cancellations expected until December 9th.
Mayor Piero Castrataro also spoke out on the issue, with a harsh comment on the actions of the regional government: “The alarm raised by commuters, unions and other social forces who fear the isolation of this region was not enough,” said the mayor. “Today, one of the two morning trains no longer leaves Isernia and one of the two evening trains does not return from Rome to Isernia. Two return trips from Isernia to Caserta are also being cancelled. This means greater isolation for our region, but above all, the inability of regional governments to know how to deal with Trenitalia and at the same time make better use of the resources we have. They have only been good at increasing taxes and in this case they are cutting essential services that are needed to remove the region from isolation,” thundered Castrataro.
A situation defined as unacceptable even by commuters, which in fact represents a real blow for users, especially for students and workers, forced to reorganize in an emergency for their daily trips. And there are also those who in mid-June regularly managed to buy the ticket, only to then not find the train at the station. An already limited service, that of public transport in Molise, on which for years – inevitably – also weighed down by the electrification works of the line which, dragging on for so long, are generating no small inconvenience for those traveling for study or work reasons, as well as a less than optimal image of the region from a tourism point of view.
Years of sacrifices, therefore, for commuters that today do not seem to be repaid at all. Indeed, in addition to the damage, the mockery of further cancellations.
