The General Directorate for Health and Individual Policies of the Basilicata Region has made official a proposal for a border agreement with the Puglia Region, while a similar proposal will be presented to the Campania Region within the week. This agreement will regulate the access of Lucanian patients in hospital facilities in neighboring regions, taking into account the Lucanian healthcare offer, of patient needs and control of healthcare spending.

The agreement does not involve individual private health companies, such as Miulli, but the entire Puglia Region. The initiative aims to ensure coordinated and optimal management of hospitalizations, ensuring that the Lucanian regional health system is sustainable and compliant with national regulations.

The Director General for Health and Human Policies of the Basilicata Region, Massimo Mancini, announced the news, underlining the importance of the agreement to improve efficiency and access to health care for Lucanian citizens. The main objective is to regulate reimbursements for healthcare services for Lucanian patients and to ensure the appropriate use of hospitalizations.

These border agreements are essential to balance healthcare provision between regions and ensure that patients receive the care they need without overwhelming the healthcare system of any single region. Interregional collaboration will improve the quality of care and respond more effectively to the health needs of the population.
