The idea for the sequel was born in 2013

It was 2013 that there was more concrete talk of a sensational return of Tim Burton at the helm of Beetlejuice 2, the sequel to the horror comedy he directed in 1988 and which won over critics and audiences (it grossed 74 million dollars starting from an investment of 15 million) and even won an Oscar for Best Makeup. “Making sequels doesn’t excite me”, Burton said at the time, not entirely convinced of giving a sequel to one of his most famous films that entered the coveted “cult” club. And yet exactly ten years later, and exactly on Wednesday (not a random day of the week…) May 10, 2023, Warner Bros. confirmed – after a long development cycle and some false starts – the start of production of Beetlejuice 2. The visionary and brilliant director will also bring Michael Keaton and Wynona Ryder back to the set, in their original roles. But it’s the new entries that intrigue everyone: Jenna Ortega and Monica Bellucci.
