Stade Rennais. Moroccan central defender Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal signs until 2028

As announced by Ouest-France this Monday 1is July, Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal signed with Stade Rennais for four seasons, until 2028.

This is the first professional contract for the 18-year-old Moroccan central defender (1.90 m), who arrives from the Mohammed VI Academy in Rabat, where Nayef Aguerd, who played for SRFC between 2021 and 2023, and Mohamed Jaouab, who Rennes has just bought from Amiens, come from.

Olivier Cloarec: “We had to fight hard for his arrival”

“Abdelhamid is one of the greatest talents of his generation, he was followed and courted by many major European teams, comments the executive president of Stade Rennais, Olivier Cloarec, in the club’s official press release. It took a lot of fighting to get him to Rennes. As we have always done with our young players and thanks to our experience in terms of training and post-training, the club and the staff will put him in the best possible position so that he can assert himself with our colours. We would like to thank the Mohammed VI Academy with which the SRFC maintains excellent relations.

“I am very happy to join Stade Rennais FC, the player testifies for his part. I jumped at the chance to sign for a club of this caliber, in Ligue 1, known for playing young players. My goal is obviously to eventually progress with the professional team. I found out about the Rouge et Noir and I knew the club because I followed Nayef Aguerd and Mohamed Jaouab there. It’s true that Nayef is an inspiration, as are Rüdiger and Ramos at international level. My qualities? Heading, long play, I’m not afraid to go into a duel. I’m grateful to be in Rennes and ready to work hard. I want to thank all the people at the Mohammed VI Academy who have supported me over the years, who have contributed to my now being able to discover European football.”

Present this Tuesday, July 2, at the professional group training, Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal will participate in the summer preparation, under the leadership of Julien Stéphan, who will be able to determine whether or not he will be mainly left at the disposal of the reserve team in National 3 next season.
