In August the MTB champions will be protagonists on Gennargentu with the Sardinia Rally

Barbagia warms up its engines in view of the Sardinia MTB Rally, scheduled from 28 to 31 August in the heart of the island.

Promoter of the initiative, the Autonomous Region of Sardinia through the Tourism Department. With the organization of Wild Track, under the aegis of the International Cycling Union (UCI) and the Italian Cycling Federation (FCI) and the patronage of the Municipalities of Aritzo, Desulo and Seulo. Where we work tirelessly to guarantee great hospitality to athletes, their teams and fans.

It will open on Wednesday 28 August, with participants who will challenge the time trial route that will lead them to the limestone heel of Texile, before crossing Belvì and returning to Aritzo.

Sunday 29 August, the protagonist is the Mandrolisai, with the route between Desulo, Tonara and the return to Desulo.

The second stage is more challenging, with the departure and return to Seulo, passing through the centuries-old woods between Sadali and Seui. Before the final rush to Aritzo, designated as the headquarters of the event. Desulo and Seulo, the other two towns at the head of the individual stages, to the satisfaction of the regional councilor Franco Cuccureddu and the first citizens.

We enthusiastically welcomed the 2024 edition of the Sardinia Rally and we thank the organizers and the Department of Tourism and the Sardinia Region, which for this occasion will take us beyond national borders”.

Fontana concludes: «The whole country will do its part. Our associations are a precious and fundamental pivot. We also hope for great events of this level in the future, which are a lifeblood for us.”

Thus Gian Cristian Melis, mayor of Desulo: «Ours is also a commitment that involves the whole country, starting from our administration, passing through the Pro loco and the La Solidarietà Association. In the past we have hosted regional cycling events, now we are launching ourselves into this international challenge.”

Melis adds: «An “off-season” opportunity for us that will allow us to promote our tangible and intangible heritage».

Enrico Murgia, mayor of Seulo, is also on the same line: «The Sardinia Rally represents a great opportunity to showcase the most beautiful routes. It will be an important showcase that we want to repeat over the years, capable of generating and increasing attentive and sustainable tourism.”
