Gerardo, a student with Down syndrome who graduated from high school

Gerardo is a young student with Down syndrome and autism who has demonstrated how inclusion and collaboration between school and family can lead to extraordinary results.completing his scholastic career at the ‘A. Einstein’ Sports and Scientific High School in Cerignola.

With the support of dedicated educators such as Nadia Dangelo and Rosa Cascella, Gerardo has overcome every challenge, becoming an example of perseverance and determination.

The Municipality of Cerignola, represented by Deputy Mayor Maria Dibisceglia and City Councilor Mariarosaria Divito, celebrated this special moment together with Gerardo’s family, teachers and classmates. The moving words of Gerardo’s mother, Alba, reflect the long journey of love and commitment that led to this milestone.

“Gerardo’s story is a shining example of how inclusion can enrich the entire community, and the Municipality of Cerignola will continue to work to highlight examples like the one we have witnessed: training, education, growth are essential elements to create inclusion. A concrete example, which I underline and which truly represents what inclusion means is certainly that of 5F, in which everyone, classmates and teachers, have declined activities and experiences with and for Gerardo”the words of the deputy mayor Maria Dibisceglia.
