The Basilicata Region will ask for it state of emergency to cope with the Drought which is gripping the Lucanian territory.
This is what emerged yesterday at the conclusion of the meeting of a technical table in which all the institutional bodies that have had to face the crisis in recent days participated water crisisboth as regards drinking and irrigation resources.
The meeting was attended by the Prefectures of Potenza and Matera, the Civil protection regional, the healthcare companies of the two capitals, theLucanian Aqueduct and the Land Reclamation Consortium.
«Lo emergency status (as already declared in Sicily and Calabria) would allow a greater effectiveness of actions necessary to deal with the water emergency”, explain the Region.
During the meeting, an overall picture was provided of the great difficulties relating to water supply in light of the data on reservoirs.
«The drought, which will increasingly affect the Lucanian territory, will be the basis for formulating a detailed and motivated request that allows the National Department of Civil Protection to declare a state of emergency”, conclude the Region, expressing the hope that “this process, also shared with the regional Prefectures, will be short. The appeal therefore to the Observatory of the Basin Authority to evaluate the data provided as a matter of urgency for the declaration of water severity”.
