Rimini politics in mourning. Ermanno Vichi, the first President of the Province, has died. He was born in Novafeltria on March 18, 1942.

A literature teacher at the Valturio Technical Commercial Institute in Rimini, in 1975 he joined the Rimini city council for the Christian Democrats. In 1980 he was elected to the regional council of Emilia-Romagna, where he was reconfirmed in 1985 and 1990; during this period he held the position of President of the commission. In 1995, after his experience as a regional councilor, he was elected in the first round as the first President in the history of the Province of Rimini, on the Italian Popular Party quota. He held the position until 1999, then returned to work as a teacher for a few years. He subsequently held the position of president of the municipal company AMIA, which he accompanied to the transition to Hera Spa, a company listed on the stock exchange, of which he was vice president until 2006. In the political elections of that year he was elected deputy of the XV legislature of the Italian Republic in the XI Emilia-Romagna constituency for L’Ulivo, on the Margherita quota; in Montecitorio he is part of the Finance Commission. In 2007 he joins the newly formed PD, which he represents in the Chamber until spring 2008.
