A Indian hemp plantation was discovered by the financiers of the Provincial Command of Foggia and by the personnel of the Dia of Bari and Foggia in collaboration with air units of the Naval Air Operations Department of the Guardia di Finanza of Bari. In particular, the police forces intervened in the Lesina area (Fg), in Gargano National Parkin the isthmus area between the lake and the sea.

After a thorough reconnaissance, a fenced area was identified, protected by barbed wire and shade netting, inside which there was thick vegetation and a small lake; the area was monitored by remote control cameras. Hidden among the shrubs of various types 5,239 Indian hemp plants were foundboth growing and ready to be cut and dried for the preparation of marijuana doses.

The extension of the area required many hours to locate and eradicate all the plants. From the analyses carried out and due to the active ingredient of THC contained, it emerged that over 11,526 doses could have been obtained from the seized plants.
