Field Hockey: Amsicora celebrates in Genoa, Super Cup and Under 16 championship

Amsicora conquers Genoa. The field hockey season ended with the events in the context of “Genoa 2024 European Capital of Sport” and Amsicora has made a splash. In the Ligurian capital, it won the women’s Super Cup, the men’s Under 16 title and, as if that weren’t enough, it took home five individual awards.

Super Cup

Between Amsicora, fresh champion of Italy for the ninth time, and Lorenzoni Brà, winner of the Italian Cup, it is always an exciting challenge. It did not disappoint expectations, Amsicora won 6-3 in the shoot out after the draw, 3-3, after regulation time. It is the first victory after six editions, a goal missed in 2019 (after the championship, Italian Cup, Eurohockey) when it was beaten by Lorenzoni.

In Genoa Amsicora took the lead with Grimbaum, after the Piedmontese overtaking they tied twice with Scarpa and Khilko. In the shoot out Cecilia Pastor took the stage, saving three shots, while Grimbaum, Carosso and Khilko scored. Pastor was awarded as best goalkeeper, while Maryna Vynohradova received an award for best player.

Under 16

Amsicora dominates the two games of the Final Four played at the Arnaldi in Genoa and wins the category title. They beat Cus Padova 5-2 in the semifinals, and Tevere 8-3 in the finals. The team coached by Mariano Tisera and Giaime Carta played the ace that bears the name of Francesco Atzori, who has just turned 16, a regular in the Elite and who scored three goals in the semifinals and seven in the victorious final. The two individual awards, best player and best scorer, were obvious. It’s not over, Michele Leviani also took home the accolades, being awarded as best goalkeeper.

For Sardinian hockey it is the third youth title of the season, after Cus Cagliari in the Under 14 men’s team, and Amsicora itself in the Under 12 women’s team.

Coaches course

From Friday to Sunday, sixteen people participated in the third level “L3” coaching course, which qualifies for technical guidance in the top division. Organized by the Regional Committee of the Federhockey, chaired by Gianfranco Salaris, with the patronage of Coni Sardegna. The teachers who animated the course were Stefano Tocco, Luca and Stefano Angius, Fernando Jorge and Filippo Treno.
