Governor Cirio’s announcements. “Vuelta in Piemonte and I dream of the World Cup”

Ecstatic about the greatness of the Tour, won over by the passion of his fellow countrymen, impatient to realize other dreams, starting with the Grande Partenza of the Vuelta. “We are at the final sprint, only a few details are missing but we are in a very good position,” explains Alberto Cirio, governor of Piedmont. “The ATP Finals of tennis have also taught us the importance of being present for many years in major sporting events and these are clearly world-class events. The stages of the Tour were the result of extraordinary work and the TV connections were a huge opportunity to promote our territory.”

In fact, Piedmont is now systematically investing in cycling, as demonstrated by the grand start of the Giro d’Italia (both this year and in 2021), the two-day Tour (today the start from Pinerolo towards Valloire, ed.), and the now advanced negotiations for the start of next year’s Vuelta, recently confirmed by the director of the great Iberian tour himself, Javier Guillén.

Among Alberto Cirio’s dreams there is also a world championship in the lands of Piedmont, in particular in San Francesco al Campo, in a covered velodrome that should be built in the next few years. “We are working on it – the governor always explains -, even if it will clearly take a little more time”.

Cordiano Dagnoni, president of the Italian Cycling Federation, wasted no time in also attending yesterday

Turin for the stage finish. After the official announcement of Atlanta 1996 gold medalist Silvio Martinello who will compete for the number one spot in Italian cycling, Dagnoni confirmed yesterday that he wants to run again.
