A scene worthy of an action movie yesterday morning, when the Carabinieri of the Norm of the Ancona Company launched themselves in pursuit of a suspicious vehicle. Behind the wheel, it was later discovered, was a 20-year-old from Puglia who, heedless of the speed limits and especially of the Highway Code, deliberately took – incredibly but true – the Variante della Strada Statale 16 in the wrong direction, only to be caught and stopped in the municipality of Montemarciano. The young man was reported and removed from the area and will not be able to return for at least 24 months. It all started in via Marconi, a full industrial area of the city of Falconara. The military of the Radiomobile Section, present for the usual checks on road traffic and, in general, for the activities of guarding the most frequented arteries, noticed that decidedly shady car in which a man was traveling. When he saw himself being chased, he launched himself onto the SS16 in a northerly direction, but in the opposite direction to the regular flow of the other vehicles. And so, after a daring escape and speeding on a road known for being busy, the young man was stopped near the neighboring municipality (Montemarciano). At that point the Carabinieri took him to the Provincial Command of Montagnola di Ancona, where he was subjected to all the necessary checks. Inside the vehicle, a control unit useful for starting the stolen car in which the 20-year-old boy from Foggia was traveling was also found and seized. Once the formal procedures were completed, a timely response also arrived from the police commissioner of Ancona, Cesare Capocasa, who signed the preventive measure of the mandatory expulsion order against the subject, with which he ordered him to leave the Ancona area within six hours. But that’s not all. He was also banned from returning to the city, unless he had obtained prior authorization, for a period of two years. The man was considered by the police as socially dangerous, in light of the fact that, according to initial reconstructions, he would derive proceeds from the criminal activities committed and from his association with other criminals. For these reasons, and above all for the crazy escape and what ensued, the 20-year-old was reported at large for the crimes of receiving stolen goods and resisting a public official.
