A new wave of bad weather has hit the Parma area. From just before 5 pm on Monday 1 July, in fact, water bombs and hail have affected the areas of Fidenza and Bassa Parmense in particular. In Fidenza, 40 millimetres of water have already fallen in just a few minutes. Numerous floods have occurred in Fidenza, both in the city centre and in the hamlets. Marconi Park and the underpass of the train station have been flooded. “The technicians of the Municipality, the local police and the civil protection are on the territory, in the most affected areas. They are monitoring the situation and intervening right now” says the mayor of Fidenza Davide Malvisi. Several cellars between Fidenza, Busseto and Salsomaggiore Terme have also been flooded.

Fidenza, the station underpass becomes a river

The water bomb caused the flooding of the provincial road that connects Fidenza to Castione Marchesi. In the Busseto area, between San Rocco and Sant’Andrea, traffic is difficult due to some flooding. Traffic disruptions have been reported between Fidenza and Salsomaggiore Terme: trees have fallen in the middle of the road, in particular between Salsomaggiore and Ponte Ghiara. The areas affected also include the municipalities of San Secondo and Soragna.

In Parma, for now, there is no rainfall, which should arrive, even if lighter, in the next few hours.
