The new president of the Academy of Fine Arts of Catanzaro, Stefania Mancuso, has taken office, chosen by the Minister of University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini.
Welcomed by the director, Virgilio Piccari, President Mancuso began her mandate by underlining that she was “happy with this role which – she said – fills me with responsibility.
My commitment, over the next three years, will be aimed at ensuring that the lines already defined by the management can materialize in addition to the new designs that we will carry out. Today, education in Italy needs to be attractive because we read more and more about students who do not continue with post-diploma studies. For this reason I believe that it should be our objective to make an area like Calabria increasingly attractive. Another objective I set myself is to continue to maintain the great notoriety that the Academy has had since it was founded and to position it increasingly higher at a regional, national and international level. This is a challenge that today arises due to the mobility dynamics of students and teachers. Also on this aspect, therefore, I believe that we will have to work hard to carry out all the projects that can create systems and networks. We will then have to try to implement training strategies that can keep students here in Calabria in order to avoid the training migration that also characterizes our territory”.
In welcoming President Mancuso, on behalf of herself and the entire Academy, director Piccari underlined her professional curriculum. “I am particularly grateful to Minister Bernini – said the director – for having chosen Professor Mancuso as our president, a person of profound culture, whose specific skills will be an important added value for our institution. I am certain and convinced that this new collaboration will bring new products and new ‘perfumes’ within our structure. The Academy of Fine Arts of Catanzaro has been recognized, in recent months, as the winner of a project supported by Pnrr funds for internationalization thanks to which we have started a collaboration with 11 other national institutions similar to ours. The idea is to create, through the synergy and the important contribution that the president will be able to bring, even more contacts, more connections. through the quality of training, the opportunity to imagine a future that develops in one’s own territory”.
