Ex Ilva, the unions write to the government

The metalworkers’ unions are asking the government to be called again “to continue the update on the situation of the Acciaierie d’Italia group in extraordinary administration – formerly Ilva due to the worsening of social and industrial conditions in the absence of a long-term recovery perspective”. This is what Fim-Cisl, Fiom-Cgil and Uilm-Uil wrote in a letter sent to the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, to the Undersecretary of State, Alfredo Mantovano, to the Minister of Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, to the Minister of Enterprise, Adolfo Urso, to the Minister of Labor, Maria Elvira Calderone, and to the Minister for European Affairs, Raffaele Fitto.

The request comes on the eve of the meeting that will be held tomorrow in Rome at the Ministry of Labor, where the discussion on the redundancy fund procedure for former Ilva workers begins. More than 50% of the group’s workers will in fact be placed on redundancy fund. The extraordinary commissioners have in fact announced that they want to start redundancy fund for 5,200 workers, which in this way would affect approximately 7,400 workers, also considering those of the former llva in AS.
