Don Manzoni new chaplain of the Monastery of S. Sigismondo

Don Giuseppe Manzoni is the new chaplain of the cloistered community of the Dominican Monastery of S. Giuseppe in San Sigismondoin Cremona. The official announcement was made at the end of the celebration on Sunday 30 June in San Sigismondo.

Don Manzoni, what’s happening to Father Daniel Piazzi (recently appointed parish assistant in Sant’Abbondio), will begin his new role as of July 1st, simultaneously taking on the role of rector of the former parish church of San Sigismondo, now annexed to the Monastery.

The nomination by the Bishop comes after the approval of the prioress of the Dominican community of Cremona and also considering the experience gained by Don Manzoni at the Benedictine Abbey of Novalesa.

As per the custom of the Dominican Order, the office of chaplain, which lasts three years (and cannot be renewed for a third three-year period), requires the commitment to celebrate the liturgical functions of the cloistered community without interfering in the internal government of the Monastery, outside of which the chaplain’s residence is expected.
