International archaeological film festival

International archaeological film festival
International archaeological film festival

Everything is ready for date zero of ‘International review of archaeological cinema’ conceived by the director from Cremona Petra Paola Lucini – through his production company Petrafilm – and that it will take place on July 3 in Cremonaal Cinema Theatre Filoand the 5 July in Cavriana, in the province of Mantua at the Archaeological Museum of Alto Mantovano.

Two places that share an important and documented past: Cavriana for the prehistoric settlements and Cremona for the splendid Roman past.

The project by Lucini and Dario DiBlasicurator and creator of several international film events, aims to focus attention on ancient and distant cultures and civilizations, which becomes a journey between past, present and future.

It also becomes an opportunity to create an opportunity for discussion between the public and professionals, thanks to the presence of directors, producers, actors, distributors, film critics and archeology enthusiasts.

The public will be involved in the vision of feature films, short films, docufilms coming from all over the world and selected for direction, editing, stories, evocative places, some already presented in important international festivals and others still in absolute preview.

But the public will also have an active role: they will be called to decree the winner of the film festival, by filling out an evaluation form which, at the end of the evening, will decree the first prize.

“We wanted to call it ‘data zero’ – says Lucini, director of ‘Cahuachi. Labyrinths in the sand’ which will be screened during the festival – because we consider it an experiment. Our intention is to make this festival an annual event, but there are many variables and we prefer to take it one step at a time. In this debut edition we will already have an international premiere: it is ‘Giordania Biblica’ by Alberto Castellani. Then in the room there will be Massimo D’Alessandro, director of ‘Uomini e dei: il mare e il sacro’, and Marco Castiglioni, son of the director Alfredo author of ‘I pozzi cantanti’, a docufilm dedicated to Ethiopia and the testimony of something that no longer exists. Finally at the presentation there will be Marina Volontè, Curator of the archaeological museum San Lorenzo in Cremona”.

The program of the day, the same for Cremona and Cavriana, includes the screening of five films in the afternoon, from 4pm to 7pm, and three in the evening, from 8.30pm to 10.30pm. At the end of the screening cycle, the debate with directors, authors and filmmakers.

Admission to the screenings is free (further information at 333-9761260).

The event is organized in collaboration with the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the provinces of Cremona, Mantua and Lodi, and the patronage of the Municipality of Cremona, Cinema Filo, the Lombardy Region, the Municipality of Cavriana and the Archaeological Museum of ‘High Mantua.
