Work has begun for 40,000 euros to remove the structure and proceed with the cleanup. Conti: “Dilapidated structure, area cleared by July”

PISA — L’former Giardino di Poppa restaurantin via Litoranea between Marina di Pisa and Tirrenia, will be demolished soon. This very morning, Monday 1st July, the demolition works of the structure and of reclamation of the areawhich is owned by the Municipality of Pisa.

“The demolition and reclamation work of the area along the coast road at the beginning of the town of Tirrenia, where it is located, will be completed by July. a now dilapidated structure – commented the mayor Michael Conti – an intervention that adds to the many actions taken by the municipal administration, including the removal of several shacks in the Calambrone area, the recovery of the former Ciclilandia green area in Tirrenia and the restyling of the squares of Marina, depending on a gradual and comprehensive redevelopment of the coastline“.

In the case of the former restaurant, the area had been granted a concession by the municipal administration, which then proceeded to revoke it in 2021 for breaches of the contract and for the construction of illegal works. Furthermore, in the past year, it had also been triggered in the area a firewhich had endangered the surrounding greenery.

In total, the removal and remediation work has a cost of over 40 thousand euros and have been entrusted to a specialized company that will take care of the demolition of the building, the removal and disposal of waste, as well as the restoration, cleaning and safety of the entire area.

“The area is located right next to the portal marking the entrance to Bagno Lidobuilt in the 1930s by the engineer Federigo Severini, a portal bound by the Superintendence and of historical and architectural value – concluded Conti – another element that enriches a valuable area with historical importance, such as the beautiful avenue of the Litoranea which runs along the town and leads to the beaches”.
