A few days away from the long-awaited new edition of theInternational Trani Tango (11 – 14 July) the artistic direction of the event presents the show Tango passion, Tuesday 9th July at 9pm in the magical setting of Beltrani Palace of Arts (via Beltrani, 51, Trani).
Organized by City of Trani in collaboration with the Puglia Public Theater and with the production of In movementthe show brings the masters to the stage Vito Raffanelli And Giorgia Rossello, Valentina Guglielmi And Miky Padovano, Gabriella Todisco And Michele Lobefarothree pairs of talented dancers who will take turns in whirlwind choreographies accompanied by the orchestra FlirTango, composed of excellences of world music: the Argentine bandoneonist and dancer Mariano Navone, the Italian pianist Alessia Rorato, Natalia Meyer, Uruguayan singer and guitarist and the Spanish violinist Carla Mulas González. No dance is as passionate as the tango in which rhythm and character blend in an elegant game of provocations and glances. The Tango Passion show celebrates the beauty, intensity and elegance of this dance with an exceptional cast, an unmissable show for all lovers of art and live music.

Four days full of events for the new edition ofInternational Trani Tangothe event that from11th to 14th July will make the city of origin of the tango legend shine Astor Piazzolla in the eyes of the world.

“The artistic level is very high again this year” he begins, Gusperowho adds “eight pairs of professional teachers protagonists of highly anticipated seminars in the afternoon and then concluding the evenings with wonderful performances that attract great participation every year, we have some of the most important names on the international scene both in dance and in orchestras ”.
Many registrations have already arrived from foreign countries, which will certainly exceed the 111 presences of last year and which in total brought 702 people to Trani from all over the world. Australia (Victoria), Taiwan (Taipei) Hong Kong And China (Shanghai), United States (California) e Canada (Montreal), Türkiye (Istanbul) are just the first foreign countries to have booked the exclusive lessons, in addition to the first registrations marked by London And Paris, Netherlands And Romania and other European countries, without forgetting the loyalists arriving from Venice, Turin And Rome and of course i Apulian. “We started this adventure by studying the roots of Astor Piazzollawe are proud to celebrate the prestige of his character in the place where it all began,” he begins Giuseppe Ragno to present the 11th edition of the event. “The spectacle of dancing tango in such a beautiful and fascinating place like Piazza Duomo, and being able to visit not only Trani but also the surrounding cities, makes understandable the desire of many tourists and dancers to undertake a long journey to spend magical days in Puglia” , tells Spiderwho adds: “a slow and sustainable slow tourism that allows the re-discovery of local experiences for tourists from all over the world who stay in the city for over four days, sleeping, eating and experiencing the area”, concludes.
“What used to be the tango festival has grown so much that it convinced us to change the name of the event,” he explains Claudia Vernice and adds: “The international nature of the event is now a certainty, and the arrivals come from all over the world. This pushes us to carry forward projects that we had in mind even before Covid, with the support of Enit and the Puglia Region”. Vernice goes into more detail: “we would like to organize a winter edition, to deseasonalize tourism in the city – and again – we would like to organize a music competition for bandoneon players, to truly pay homage to Astor Piazzolla and thus create a cultural and tourist route dedicated to the great artist as an international competition of ideas for architects and artists. Or again”, and concludes “to seal the twinning with Mar De Plata (Piazzolla’s birthplace, in Argentina) which began several years ago, we would like an Argentine artist to create a work of art dedicated to Piazzolla to be exhibited at Trani and vice versa, that an artist from Trani did it in Argentina. We are working on it, today we have the desire, strength and courage to resume projects frozen by Covid”.
The Adriatic city seems so small and distant, yet the interest aroused by the International Trani tango continues to grow and cross oceans together with the authority achieved in eleven years of work and the undeniable charm of being able to dance on a wooden floor 400 m2 at the foot of the sumptuous cathedral of Trani overlooking the sea. Many factors that have attested to the value of the event capable of attracting the best dancers and musicians from all over the world and institutions. In addition to the support of the Puglia Region, the role of the Teatro Pubblico Pugliese is important: “Supporting the International Trani Trango and accompanying the further growth of an already important event is a source of pride and represents the right path to take, necessary both for the development economic and touristic events with such a strong identity matrix, both to expand the cultural offer for the public, such as Tango Passionthe event that will be held at Palazzo Beltrani” he declares Sante Levante, director of the TPP. “We had the honor of hosting Astor Piazzolla several years ago and having him visit his grandparents’ home in the historic center” he recalls Lucia De Maricouncilor for Cultures of the city of Trani, “this event is a beautiful way to pay homage to him”
The ten years of the festival celebrated last year also coincided with the start of a partnership with Mar de Plata, Piazzolla’s hometown, so much so that it brought to Puglia Pipi Piazzolla with the collaboration of Enit, Astor’s nephew, ambassador of that roots tourism that gives the magic of a journey to discover the past family history, ideally passing the baton to 2024, declared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation theYear of Italian roots.
New this year is Tango on tour Sunday 30 June in Margherita di Savoia, which will host the first traveling stage of the event with a free milonga in Piazza Libertà starting from 7pm with tj Francesco Azzollini, and the free tango therapy event with the support of Lilt. Great anticipation with the show Tango Passion scheduled for July 9th from 9pm in the fascinating Palazzo delle Arti Beltrani. And finally the aperitango on Friday 12 July on the port of Trani with free milonga and the performance of the absolute Italian champions of Argentine dances, Giuliano Gambarelli and Vittoria Zoffoli.
All that remains is to wait for the arrival of the eleventh edition of the International Trani Tango with the eight pairs of masters protagonists of seminars and milongas (Miguel Angel Zotto and Daiana Guspero, Vanesa Villalba and Facundo Pinero, Lucila Cionci and Joe Corbata, Marcela Guevara and Stefano Giudice, Roberta Beccarini and Pablo Garcia, Ludovica Antonietti and Cristian Luna, Giorgia Rossello and Vito Raffanelli, Valentina Guglielmi and Miky Padovano) and the three orchestras (Sonder Tango, Tango Spleen, Tango Sonos), the tjs (Huracan, Settimo, Madia , Fortuna del Prete), with sounds and atmospheres that this year too will cross the whole city already at sunset over the port and in the streets of the historic centre, as well as of course the afternoon seminars in Palazzo San Giorgio, and then arriving at the highly anticipated event of the milonga evening to dance at the foot of the Trani Cathedral until dawn, in what has rightfully become one of the most anticipated events of the season.
