Viareggio Rèpaci Award, special prizes awaiting the grand finale

The countdown begins for the awards ceremony of the 95th edition of the Viareggio-Rèpaci Prize, the literary recognition dedicated to works of fiction, poetry and non-fiction, which, since 1929, has been a fundamental cultural event for the city and the whole nation.

The final evening will be held on Saturday 27 July, following the Friday meeting in Piazza Mazzini, where the authors of the books in dialogue with the jury will present their works to the public, with the announcement of the winner for the narrative category, with the candidates Silvia Avallone, Federica De Paolis and Marcolo Lodoli, as well as the winners of the other sections. And while waiting for the grand finale, the winners of the special awards were announced, such as the “International Award”, “Journalism Award” and “First Work Award”. The jury, chaired by Paolo Mieli and composed of Leonardo Colombati, Luca Alvino, Maria Pia Ammirati, Camilla Baresani, Giorgio Biferali, Maria Borio, Gabriella Buontempo, Diamante D’Alessio, Francesca Ferrandi, Costanza Geddes da Filicaia, Emma Giammattei, Luciano Luciani , Edoardo Nesi and Mirella Serri, awarded the first award to Anita Likmeta, an entrepreneur born in Durazzo, Albania, during the communist regime of Enver Hoxha, a naturalized Italian, who published her first novel “Le favole del communismo” in 2024 . The “Journalism Award” was awarded to Giovanna Reanda, a professional journalist since 1997, who was a parliamentary correspondent and member of the Board of Directors of the ASP and Stampa Romana and, from this year, the new director of Radio Radicale.

Alice Valeria Olivieri, however, won the award for first works. Oliveri, journalist and author, has been dealing with television, cinema, music and new media since 2014, collaborating with various magazines and with Mediaset Infinity. Since 2019, she has been an analyst on the Rai3 Tv Talk program. Since 2023, she has been the author and host of the podcast “The Short Decade “, and, in 2023, he published his first novel “Sabato champagne“, published by Solferino and in 2024, “Mondovisione. Atlas of contemporary TV” for Einaudi.

Furthermore, on 10 July, the winners for the poetry and non-fiction categories will also be announced, with Stefano Dal Bianco, Mariangela Gualtieri, Laura Pugno and Pierluigi Battista, Francesco Gambino and Vincenzo Trione respectively competing.
