PESCARA. There are two operational municipal offices with extraordinary openings to collect the electoral cards necessary to exercise the right to vote, together with an identity document. The Municipality of Pescara, in view of the electoral appointment tomorrow and Sunday, has decided to increase the hours of activity of the URP offices, in Piazza Duca d’Aosta, number 15 (former INPS building), and at the Colli detachment in via di Sotto, 2.
OFFICE OPENINGS An extension of time has already been scheduled for May 27th, which will further intensify in the days immediately preceding and the highlight of the vote. Today the head office will be open from 8.30am to 6.30pm, tomorrow from 8.30am to 11pm and Sunday from 7am to 11pm. The Colli office will be open today from 2.30pm to 6.30pm, tomorrow from 8.30am to 11pm and on Sunday from 7am to 11pm.
ELECTORAL CARDS The cards are issued in the event of loss, exhaustion of voting spaces, theft, change of residence from another municipality, turning 18, or acquisition of Italian citizenship. Adhesive update slips which are issued in the event of assignment to another section following a change of residence within the municipal territory can also be collected at the same location. To collect your electoral card you must present your identification document; for collection on behalf of others, it is necessary to bring the interested party’s proxy and a copy of his or her identity document.
THE VOTE The vote for the renewal of the members of the European Parliament and for the election of the mayor and councilors who will make up the civic assembly for the next 2 and a half years (until the dissolution for the establishment of Nuova Pescara) will begin at 3 pm on tomorrow until 11pm, while on Sunday, it will start at 7am until 11pm. In the event of a run-off, voting will take place on 23 and 24 June.
THE VOTERS There are 103,586 voters from Pescara at the polls for the local elections. Specifically, 48,710 are male, while 54,876 are women. There are 494 newly eighteen-year-olds who will exercise their right to be active voters for the first time. For the European elections, there are 100,644 voters: the number is lower than that of the administrative elections because residents of Pescara, but who live abroad, who have submitted a regular application, can vote for the renewal of the European Parliament without having to return to the city . However, this possibility is not permitted for the election of the mayor. In addition, there are around 300 people who are EU citizens, i.e. those who have residence abroad but who live in Pescara.
THE SEATS As always, the polling stations will be set up in nursery, primary and middle schools. In total there are 170 in the city, plus there are 4 special seats, at the civil hospital, at the Carducci middle school and at the Rione San Donato nursery school. There are 688 scrutineers (4 for each polling station, while two in the special ones) who will manage the voting operations. Due to some maintenance work currently underway in some schools, it was necessary to find an alternative location to the electoral sections: the voters of sections from 21 to 27, instead of going as usual to the headquarters of the Mazzini middle school in viale Regina Margherita, will go at Codignola in via del Milite Ignoto. Transfer also for sections 81, 82, 83, 84 and 85 which from via Monte Siella, of the San Giovanni Bosco primary school, will go to the Carducci middle school in via Fonte Romana 19/5. Sections 86, 87 and 88 of the Michetti media will go to the Villa Fabio primary school in via del Circuito 238. I will always move to Villa Fabio also for the sections from 98 to 101 in via Sacco. While sections from 102 to 105 of Don Lorenzo Milani will go to via Einaudi at the Foscolo media. Finally, sections from 166 to 170 of the De Cecco hotel institute, in via Italica, will move to via Virgilio at number 27 in the Antonelli middle school.
