With “Nicareddu” Nico Arezzo is among the winners of Musicultura

1,187 started, but the winners of Musicultura, one of the most important contests in Italy, were only 8 and among them was Nico Arezzo from Ragusa. Young, just 25 years old, but with an enormous talent that has led him to participate in various musical contests and talent shows over the years. Last, in order of time, is Musicultura.

Now, the eight singers will participate in the final phase of the XXXV edition of the Festival which will take place in Macerata from 17 to 22 June, where the overall winner will be decided.

And Nico won over the Musicultura Artistic Guarantee Committee with a piece that he himself considered difficult, “Nicareddu”, written in Sicilian, he knew that there was the possibility that, not fully understanding the words, he could be penalised. But this did not happen.

“Nicareddu – Nico tells us – is autobiographical. It tells of a boy, little more than a child, forced to leave his land and his family and, although he feels good in other places, he always has a sweet melancholy that accompanies him and a voice that whispers in the wind that His loved ones are all well.”

“A song – he continues – obviously to which I am very attached which, in the album ‘Non c’è mare’, released last May 17th, is a bonus track, so presenting it in a national context was a risk, but I’m happy that the song has been understood and that the emotions that gave rise to it have arrived.”

Now Nico, in addition to the Musicultura final, has a national tour awaiting him that will also take him to our areas.

And the lyrics of the song that Nico Arezzo kindly gave us:

Nicareddu

Author and Composer: Nico Arezzo

How does it come to me:

“Pigghia u focu e tenatillu ppi ttia”

A nicareddu u pusau finds u mari

U taly, u taly

Don’t you know that you want goods

Rici u focu: “docu ‘nci vuogghiu stari”

But you know how to take care of yourself

Nun u lassau, nun u lassau

Stutàri

“Ah don’t let me go

You can’t find me tomorrow

Cca ci moru sièntu friddu, ppi favuri”

“Ah viri ca fari

Don’t worry about it anymore

Ca then there’s tempu, then there’s tempu

PPI shifts”

You come

It’ll save you some luck

Ciatu miu, ririci approx

They looked good
