Daniele was 24 and killed himself a year ago, after he discovered that what he believed to be his fiancée, met online and never met or heard from, was actually a man who lived in a town near Forlìhis city. It is the widespread practice of creating a false virtual identity, especially with the social network, to make another person believe that one is who, in reality, one is not. Often, but not in this case, with the aim of scamming or extorting money from those on the other side of the screen. Two years ago Daniele met Irene on the internet, a beautiful 20-year-old girl with whom he fell in love without ever having seen her. As investigators have found, Daniele and Irene they swapped over 8 thousand messages, in which they had also come to plan a family together. The young man had begun to have some suspicions when he realized that his Irene photos of him were the same as those of a model of Rome. When she asked him about it, she ended the relationship. In September last year, he took his own life, leaving a letter to his family.
Her parents checked her contacts and learned of the relationship with Irene, but discovered that the girl was actually a 64-year-old man who lived in a town a few kilometers from Forlì. Who, to make his story more credible, had also impersonated Irene’s brother and a friend. Immediate is taken complaint to the carabinieri with the prosecutor who opened an investigation. Roberto suffered a criminal decree of conviction with a fine of 825 euros for the replacement of a person, but the charge of death as a consequence of another crime was dismissed by the same investigators, because no causal link was found between the death of the young man. and man’s behavior.

An outcome that clashed with the pain of the young man’s family who, through their lawyers, decided to oppose the request for archiving, then to tell the story on the television broadcast. In the report we also see Roberto, joined by the television crew in the town where he lives with his elderly mother. He can be seen, with his face obscured, while he pushes the woman’s wheelchair in the center of the village trying to escape the attention of the camera. Many, also considering the size of the town where he lives, would still have recognized him also for his facial features and clearly visible tattoos. “It was a joke – his words – if he had problems with his head it’s not my fault.”
After the service of the Hyenas, Daniele’s case rose to the media’s limelight.
