THE EAGLE. “The siege. May 1423-June 1424. Thus L’Aquila defeated Braccio da Montone”. This is the title of the book written by the journalist of Center Justin Parisse which was presented yesterday afternoon, in front of an attentive and qualified audience, in the One Group room in the Tecnopolo d’Abruzzo.
«A story from L’Aquila in a period of captains of fortune, court intrigues with kings, queens, popes, weapons and money», as the author underlined during the conversation in which also took part Fabrizia Aquilio And Claudio Robimarga.
And Braccio da Montone will always be at the center of another initiative, scheduled today, promoted by the Sections of the CAI (Italian Alpine Club) of L’Aquila and Ascoli Piceno, with the patronage of the Municipality of L’Aquila, in collaboration with the Centro Italian Sports Committee of L’Aquila, the Italian Bicycle Environment Federation and the Abruzzo L’Aquila Athletics club. A day dedicated to the figure of Braccio da Montone and the battle that saw the leader defeated and ended his siege of the city of L’Aquila was promoted.
«600 years after that pitched battle (2 June 1424) the figure of Braccio da Montone and the siege of the city are still tangible elements, alive and present in the urban fabric and in the collective memory», inform the promoters of the initiative. Today’s morning (meeting at 8.30am, departure at 9am) is planned for a cycle excursion to the battle sites. At 4 pm a conference will take place at the CAI headquarters (via Sassa 34), entitled “1423-1424, the siege of L’Aquila and the defeat of Braccio da Montone”.
