After the show Tadej Pogacar also in the stage of the double passage on Monte Grappa, the curtain falls on Giro 107. The general classification is now crystallized – with the Slovenian who even came close to being 10′ ahead of Daniel Martinez – considering that Rome will be the final catwalk for him and for all the leaders. All that remains, therefore, is to observe the winner in the shadow of the Colosseum as Mark Cavendish was last year. The number 1 favorite is obviously Jonathan Milan, already winner of three stages in this Giro, and leader of the points classification. Cyclamen jersey that the Friulian had already conquered arithmetically after the Sappada stage.

Rome-Rome: the route
It ends with the now classic catwalk that leads to the sprint Rome. This is the indication of RCS Corse which wants to make the final stage of the Giro d’Italia ‘recognisable’, as the Tour has done for decades with the stage on the Champs-Élysées. We start fromEUR and there will be a first circuit that will pass through Casal Palocco, Fontana dello Zodiaco and Ostia, then turn around and start again up to EUR again. At km 49 the city circuit begins 9.5 km to be repeated 8 times within the capital. We’ll get over it Imperial Forums It is on Lungotevere Aventinoalong the city streets. On an asphalt road, but watch out for the short stretches of cobblestones. The first flying finish line of the day is set at km 68, before the second lap begins. At km 88.5 the inter-giro, just after the conclusion of the fourth lap. The points classification should already be closed and the special intergiro classification will also close on this passage. Third and final flying finish line placed at km 106, before the sixth lap ends. In the last km of the circuit there are several bends, sometimes even technical, a short climb and the last 350 meters all on cobblestones.
The favourites
Last stage of the Giro and, despite the cobblestones at the end, it should end with a group sprint, just as happened last year with Mark Cavendish’s success. The number 1 favorite remains Jonathan Milan, winner of three out of six sprints in this Giro, and wearer of the cyclamen jersey as leader of the points classification. He doesn’t want to miss the opportunity to triumph in Rome too after the victories in Andora, Francavilla al Mare and Cento.
The opponents are always the same. Tim Merlier who wants to even the score with Milan, the Belgian still collected two stage successes, and Kaden Groves who, however, never clocked up in this edition despite the hard work of his Alpecin Deceuninck.
Last year at the Vuelta, Filippo Ganna he had fun doing the group sprints. At the last stage, he even attacked with Evenepoel. To date he has never tried, having the task of escorting Geraint Thomas, who knows if he will try in Rome.
