“Tuttinbarcabili” all ready! – Ravenna Web Tv

Ravenna once again was the protagonist with Marinando Ravenna of an event which today attracted over 200 able-bodied participants and those with various disabilities who today, thanks to the tenacity of the volunteers, allowed us to see many sails raised at sea but above all the confirmation that the impossible is sometimes not exists!

At 9.00 the Dora Markus square was already crowded, the sun witnessed the enthusiasm, the sailing match 12 on board the boats of many shipowners from the port of Marina di Ravenna.

In the afternoon, in the presence of the authorities, the new Hansa 303 boat generously donated by the Lions Clubs of Ravenna San Marino, Cervia, Cesenatico and Milano Marittima was delivered.

This new edition is enriched with the launch of a new project READY TO SAIL. The initiative sees Marinando Ravenna alongside the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute, UNIAMO Italian Federation of Rare Diseases – FIMR, the IOR and the public assistance Paolina of Imola.

The objective of this pilot trial which aims to confirm the health benefits of sailing: VELATHERAPY, if we want to define it correctly, aims in particular at a study to establish whether sailing can be identified as an occupational therapy for patients with rare skeletal diseases.

The benefits on other fronts of this activity are many, Marinando Ravenna has collected successes and important goals regarding not only physical disabilities, but also psychological ones, and in post-operative rehabilitation practices of sensitive subjects.

VELATHERAPY should be identified as an activity which, through fun and pleasure, also constitutes a possibility of physiotherapy rehabilitation which consequently develops benefits from a physical point of view and beyond.

The subjects who offered to participate in the trial were identified by UNIAMO, the Italian federation of rare diseases. “Rare” are those diseases that affect a small number of people and are chronic debilitating conditions. According to WHO estimates, in the world, individuals diagnosed with rare diseases are around 300 million, in Europe between 27 and 36 million and in Italy between 2.1 and 3.5 million [2,3] with clear repercussions at both an individual and community level, impacting not only on the affected person, but also involving his or her reference networks up to the social and welfare system as a whole.

In order to address the critical issues arising from the rarity of these pathologies, a series of measures have been implemented at community and national level [3] with the aim of encouraging the creation of adequate clinical-diagnostic-treatment paths.

The leading figure in the project is Doctor Luca Sangiorgi of the Rizzoli Institute in Bologna who, in synergy with Marinando Ravenna, manages the direction of this extraordinary Adventure Therapy project.

AT is an experiential therapy which, thanks to its innovative approach based on participants’ exposure to nature (the sea), has proven over the years to be an effective treatment for improving self-esteem, autonomy and relational skills. people made fragile by rare, chronic diseases and disabilities. The interaction between individual, group and nature promotes the experimentation of one’s self-concept as part of an overall physical, cognitive, emotional or social rehabilitation.

The trial will start on Monday 27 May and will end on Friday 31. The trial data will be processed and communicated by the end of the summer.
