Castellammare wins, after Juve Stabia Virtus also wins promotion

It is a Virtus Stabia d’Eccellenza that leaves the municipal stadium of Casola di Napoli in the last playoff round against Cimitile beaten 2 to 0, winning promotion. A tense match with the guests the most dangerous for most of the match but what made the difference, in many cases, was the desire to never give up. This is the case, with the match blocked until the 89th minute at 0-0 and unblocked by Farriciello and then closed by Pirone.

The first half immediately saw an opportunity for the guests with Falco shooting just over from the edge. On the reversal in front, first chance also for the Stabiesi with Boiano who flies on the fly and with the ball blocked by Ascione. Shortly afterwards Virtus Stabia crosses from the right but Ascione blocks the ball right on Farriciello’s head ready to hit the net.

In the middle of the half, Cimitile’s pocket with Matrisciano trying to catch Buonocore, good at escaping the opponents’ shirts, but for a matter of centimeters he doesn’t hook the ball alone in the area. Virtus Stabia suffers a lot from their opponent’s speed, particularly on the right, but two miracles keep the match going. The first was a closure by Raffone who, from behind and without committing a foul, prevented Cimitile from taking a penalty on the move. The second, at the end of the first half, a new hole behind the home shirts, with Trawally finding himself face to face with Inserra who did well not to be overtaken by making a prodigious intervention. The second half resumes as the previous one ended, with many actions on both sides but little emotion until the thirty-sixth minute when, following a corner kick by Di Ruocco, Ascione overtakes first Pagano and then Raffone, with two excellent interventions which blocked the result at 0-0. A few minutes from the end, a golden opportunity for Cimitile who, on the restart, grazed the post to the right of Inserra. When everything seemed to take the match to extra time, a harmless cross from the left and an empty exit from Ascione gave Virtus Stabia the lead with Farriciello who headed past the goalkeeper and scored the goal. The guests poured into the attack, but a lightning-fast restart by Pagano who fed Pirone closed the score to 2-0. Triple whistle and celebration in Casola di Napoli, with Virtus Stabia achieving promotion to Eccellenza.
