Also this year, Comivis (Missionary Community of Villaregia for development) participates in the campaign “We have rice for a serious thing” promoted by Focsiv, in collaboration with Coldiretti and Campagna Amica, to support family farming in Italy and in poor countries . The stalls will be present today and tomorrow in Piazza della Steccata and today (only in the morning) at the Campagna Amica market in Largo Calamandrei, where there will also be a tasting of 100% Italian risotto with cardoncelli mushrooms, cooked live by chef Pierluigi Pellegri. Rice is the symbol of the initiative because it is the most consumed food in the world, particularly among the poorest, and tells of the alliance between farmers from the North and South of the world.
By supporting the campaign with a donation starting from seven euros, you will be able to defend those who work the land and receive in exchange a one kilo pack of 100% Italian rice, produced by Coldiretti farmers belonging to the Italian Agricultural Supply Chain. You can also multiply your help: make your donation and the package of rice will be delivered to Father Lino’s canteen, on the occasion of the celebrations for the centenary of his death.
Comivis Ets operates in Africa and Latin America to guarantee food, health, education and social inclusion to thousands of people in conditions of extreme poverty.
In 2024, the contribution for rice will allow the continuation of the implementation of projects for the poorest families on the outskirts of Ouagadougon, the capital of Burkina Faso. With the funds raised, we will continue to promote breeding, agricultural production and support for female micro-enterprises, as well as the social inclusion of young people. Furthermore, we will work to ensure access to primary and secondary education for boys and girls, providing adequate nutrition to those from low-income families.
In 2023 Comivis distributed 21,000 kilos of rice in Italy of which 1,800 kilos in the territory of Parma and its province (over 500 kilos of “suspended rice” destined through Seirs Croce Gialla Parma to the flooded populations of Romagna) raising funds that ensured we could live off own land to thousands of families in Mozambique, Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso.
