Aprilia RS 457: true sports car to begin with

A2 license holders, lovers of sports cars, will be thrilled when looking at the new Aprilia RS 457. Aesthetically it is similar to the most famous sports cars from the Noale company: the bold line is the result of tests in the wind tunnel to a maximum aerodynamic performance, with double fairing and spoiler under the headlights, all LED on the RS. The tail is tapered and streamlined, while the exhaust terminal is “hidden” by the fairing under the engine. The semi-handlebars are sloping but not too much, positioned above the steering plate for a sporty but not “extreme” riding position, thanks also to the slightly set back footrests and the saddle placed 80 cm from the ground, accessible to riders of all sizes who have an easier position. your feet on the ground even from the narrow sides of the RS 457.

Grown-up equipment

The RS 457 features a forward-facing twin-cylinder with double camshaft distribution, 8 valves and 270° crank mechanism, capable of 47.6 HP (A2 license limit) at 9,400 rpm and 65 Nm of maximum torque at 6,400 rpm. The double beam frame is made of aluminium, the fork with 41 mm diameter legs is only adjustable in preload, like the monoshock. The braking system is designed by ByBre, with two single discs (320 mm at the front, with 4-piston radial caliper, and 220 mm at the rear) boasting metal braided lines. The weight, thanks also to the aluminum alloy wheel rims, is 175 kg with all liquids, including the 13 liter capacity of the fuel tank. There rich electronic equipment includes Ride by Wire electronic throttle control, three riding modes (Sport, Eco and Rain) all at full power but with differences in the delivery and intervention of the traction control, adjustable on three levels (regardless of the selected riding mode but also disengageable) and ABS (disengageable on the rear wheel for track driving).

The electronic gear shift is a pleasure, but it is optional

How it goes between the curbs

The riding position of the RS 457 is sporty, but not extreme: the slightly sloping handlebars, the saddle 80 cm from the ground and the slightly set back footrests make it comfortable for riders of all sizes. The space on board is notable and the ergonomics favor rapid movements in the saddle, typical of track riding.

Engine revved up

The twin-cylinder is easy to manage, the horses are not many but they are well distributed and Even between the curbs, fun is guaranteed. On the Sport map, delivery is more decisive, full and progressive at all speeds. But it is the dynamic behavior that is impressive: when entering it is lightning fast, the front end is precise, always stable and when cornering it is very fast, rigorous in maintaining the trajectory, while when exiting, with the presence of traction control (never invasive) and the power involved, you can open the throttle without hesitation aiming for the next corner. Braking is powerful but never aggressive (with the ABS in map 1 which only works on the front), even during intense use and “bad” braking on the track. The quick-shift gearbox is smooth and precise (however offered by Aprilia only as an option).
