Yesterday, State Police personnel carried out, as part of the extraordinary services ordered by the Police Commissioner of the Province of Cosenza, Dr. Giuseppe Cannizzaro and coordinated by the local Public Prosecutor’s Office, directed by Dr. Alessandro D’Alessio, various checks in the city of Pollino and its hinterland, aimed at combating drug trafficking.

In particular, personnel from the Judicial Police Team of the Castrovillari Commissariat, together with the canine unit of the Vibo Valentia Police Headquarters, accessed a residential complex in the Doria district of Cassano all’Ionio and, during the activity of PG, a narcotic substance of the cocaine type, divided into 15 doses, for a total of approximately 11 grams and heroin in stone, divided into 49 doses, was found in a public green area, near public housing, for a total of approximately 44 grams. The service, which continued in the city, made it possible to find and seize further narcotic substances, for a total of 130 grams of hashish.

The drugs, although well hidden inside a garage in an apartment building in the city centre, did not escape the scent of the police dog “Max”. The seized narcotic substance would have yielded undue income for a total of approximately 3,500 euros.
