Nurse attacked in Castellammare: 3 and a half year sentence for the attacker

The recent verdict of the first degree trial regarding the attack perpetrated in the emergency room of the San Leonardo hospital saw the two defendants opt for a plea bargain. Romeo Franco Ferraiuolo, resident of Castellammare di Stabia and 39 years old, agreed to a three and a half year sentence for serious injuries inflicted on a nurse. The man, responsible for causing damage to five of the victim’s teeth by means of blows, was sentenced to house arrest, with authorization to leave in the morning for work.

The attack which occurred on 3 January involved Ferraiuolo, known as a Juve Stabia ultras and with a criminal past, who attacked two nurses in the emergency room waiting room. Ferraiuolo’s sister, 43, was also involved in the event, taking part in the violent attack against another nurse. The woman accepted a two-year sentence, with the sentence suspended.

The trial saw Ferraiuolo defended by the lawyer Giuliano Sorrentino and his sister represented by the lawyer Francesca D’Annunzio. The investigating judge of the Torre Annunziata court, Mariaconcetta Criscuolo, granted Ferraiuolo the benefit of house arrest. The investigations, conducted by the agents of the Castellammare di Stabia police station under the guidance of the manager Amalia Sorrentino, were coordinated by the Torre Annunziata Prosecutor’s Office, with the prosecutor Nunzio Fragliasso, the deputy Giovanni Cilenti and the deputy Ugo Spagna.

The two nurses from Stabia, assisted by lawyers Adriano Cafiero and Enrica Visconti, intend to request compensation for damages in civil court. The ASL Napoli 3 Sud has also made a request for compensation for the damage suffered.
