Crotone, new ordinance for times and limits on musical entertainment

As part of the progressive refinement of the rules on the matter, a new union ordinance has been adopted to regulate times and limits on musical entertainment in the city.

The news was given by the deputy mayor and councilor for entertainment, Sandro Cretella.

Confirming the precise intention of combining the right to leisure and entertainment of a city that has the ambition of becoming a tourist destination and the right to peace of residents in the most sensitive areas of the city, the new rules bring limited corrective measures deemed appropriate after the first year of validity of the new set of rules and following the close discussion with the trade associations.

The division of the territory into 4 zones has been confirmed:

1. Area with the highest population density on the city seafront;

2. Area with lower population density on the city seafront and other sensitive peripheral areas;

3. City center;

4. Remaining area of ​​the territory.

Also confirmed is the separate regulation of disco hours and the possibility of granting exemptions with union ordinances for individual events.

In the area of ​​the seafront with the greatest density ( Lungomare Cristoforo Colombo and Viale Gramsci) – this year valid starting from 31 May in line with the aim of anticipating the start of the summer period – it is permitted to play music until 1.30 am and on Friday and Saturday until 02:00. The possibility of derogating from the limit of 55 decibels set by national legislation up to a maximum of 70 decibels, in any case to be measured on the facades of buildings, has been confirmed.

In the lower density seafront area (Viale Magna Grecia up to Capo Colonna and the northern coast of the city), the possibility of playing music until 3.30 am is confirmed.

In the city center area it is allowed to play music until 00:00 and on Friday and Saturday evenings until 01:00 on the following days only inside the premises.

The most favorable regime for the Christmas period has been confirmed.

Discos regularly authorized as public entertainment venues must stop playing music by 5.30 am.

In all cases, each operator, in order to take advantage of the exemptions, must provide a noise impact report.

In order to guarantee the effectiveness of the controls, the ordinance mandates the environment sector offices to conclude an agreement with Arpacal for monitoring the phenomenon of noise pollution and compliance with the limits set by the ordinance during the summer period.

Violation of the provisions set out in the ordinance gives rise to a pecuniary administrative sanction in the case of a first violation, suspension of the license in the case of a second violation and revocation of the license for the entire season in the case of a third violation.
