Campi Flegrei, De Luca against the Meloni government: “No response on the funds, a shame. They are irresponsible, without institutional decency”

Very harsh invective from the president of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca who, in his usual Friday live appointment on social media, dedicated everything to the situation of Phlegraean Fieldsrelaunches his well-known accusations against the minister Raffaele Fitto et al Meloni government on the failure to approve the Development and cohesion plan, presented by the politician on October 11th.
De Luca repeats the word several times “irresponsibility” in reference to the executive led by Giorgia Meloni: “It’s something disconcerting, we could have carried out many interventions if we had not lost a year of time with Minister Fitto and the government. Still no response today, no sign of life, despite the ruling of the Council of State. There are truly no words left to denounce the government’s irresponsibility. They tell us that there are no adequate resources to address the problems of the Campi Flegrei and that we will not be granted the earthquake bonus“.

The regional president recalls that the earthquake bonus had already been requested from the government on the occasion of theflood of Ischia, but it was denied. And he launches another accusation: “For months we have been asking the government to equate the treatment of citizens of Campania with that reserved for citizens of Central Italy who were hit by the earthquake. The incredible thing is that for the areas of the Center the earthquake bonus was paid, for the South the government reiterates its no. We are relaunching the request already made by the Municipalities, because this seems intolerable to us unequal treatment is shocking. All the more shocking when the government continues to repeat the invitation to the inhabitants of Pozzuoli and Campi Flegrei to leave the territories. I remember that to leave you need resources and financial availability. But can anyone really imagine a mass exodus from those territories? You can’t imagine taking half a million people. And then take them where?“.
And he adds: “It is clear that we need to carry out a seismic safety intervention for the buildings at the same time. The bonus earthquake is for this purpose. We ask what is being done in the earthquake-stricken areas of the whole country, it is not clear why there should not be an important intervention by the government and the national civil protection in the Campi Flegrei, also on a financial level”.

De Luca also asks the government for an economic intervention in the Campi Flegrei and reiterates: “To date we have no response, in concrete terms there is only the blocking of the Development and Cohesion Plan of the Campania Region, which provides concrete allocations for the Campi Flegrei. It’s shocking what the national government is doing. We also insistently ask the government for systems to control the seabed and the emissions of any harmful gases. I remember that Campania is a wonderful but fragile territory – continues the politician – For this reason we would have needed attention and sensitivity on the part of the government, which would have had the duty to be the first to sign the cohesion agreement with the Campania Region for the use of funds. They were and still are irresponsible. Honestly, in their place, I would be ashamed. If there is a government that has done nothing for Campania, it is the current government. After fourth solicitation that we addressed to Minister Fitto, still today all is silent, they didn’t even have the institutional decency to respond. It’s just something to be ashamed of. We will continue to fight, we hope that sooner or later the government will also find at least a modicum of institutional dignity.”

And he concludes by mentioning the lack of funding for the new one Caserta Polyclinic (50 million euros) due to the blocking of the Development and Cohesion Plan: “The damage that Minister Fitto and the Meloni government are causing is enormous, it is a shame. The citizens of Caserta will have the opportunity to thank the government and Minister Fitto. Tell it to parliamentary representatives from Campania which belong to the area of majority and that obviously they haven’t opened their mouths for months, moreover for the defense of their territory. A shame”.
