From architecture to orecchiette, a journey of passion and tradition. It is the story of Riccardina Burdo, originally from Andria, with a degree in architecture and a great love for cooking.

Today he lives in London, where he started producing his pasta until receiving official recognition from Gambero Rosso, one of the most prestigious Italian food and wine magazines. «The passion for cooking has always been a fundamental component of my life, but it took a decisive turn around 13 years ago, when I presented my orecchiette for the first time in a local restaurant, thanks to a dear friend, I didn’t imagine they would be an immediate success. Now that restaurant has become one of my first and most loyal customers. I am deeply grateful to everyone who believed in me, especially that American lady and my friends who encouraged me to pursue this path. And I can’t forget a restaurateur (an angel) who helped me get started here in London, where I found a great sense of solidarity among the Italians who work here.”

«I worked as an architect until last October – he says – but in 2023 I decided to stay in London where I had lived for 10 years and start my food business. Making orecchiette here has become my dream come true, combining passion and profession in a single adventure.” With a dream in mind: «to open my own place in London, where I can offer not only fresh pasta but also high quality condiments. I would also like to expand my online sales, to reach more lovers of authentic Italian cuisine.” But the origins are not forgotten. «Andria always has a special place in my heart», says Riccardina Burdo, with the idea of returning to start collaborations with local producers «and discover new inspirations for my cuisine».

«To everyone – concludes the architect – pasta maker – I want to say that it is never too late to follow your passion. Thank you for your unending support. I will continue to carry the name of Andria and its culinary traditions high, wherever I am.”
