Fabio Di Gioia will be the only candidate for mayor of Arrone for the local elections on 8 and 9 June. Tomas Nardini’s appeal was rejected by the Council of State, Second Jurisdictional Section. The decision came on Friday.
Nardini’s appeal rejected The decision follows that of the Umbria TAR. The exclusion of Nardini’s list as a challenger to the outgoing mayor, Fabio Di Gioia, by the TAR was motivated by the fact that the signatures placed by the voters bore the authentication of Mr. Riccardo Fortunati in his capacity as Municipal Councilor of the Municipality of Terni and the indication, written in pen, of Arrone as the place of authentication, thus resulting in the authentication of the signatures being carried out outside the territorial scope of competence of the office of membership or ownership of the authenticating public official. The ruling of the Council of State states: «The reiterated non-formal scope of the signature authentication defects, inherent to the very existence of the candidacy, cannot in any way be remedied, contrary to what the appellants have tried to maintain».
