“The boys fought and fought until the end to at least try to get back into the game.” Thus Michele Mignani, Palermo coach, comments in the mixed zone on the 2-1 defeat against Venezia. The rosanero are out of the Serie B playoffs after losing both matches in the double match against the lagoon.

“We certainly suffered from Venezia’s physicality in the first part of the first half – continues the coach -. Conceding a goal after three minutes on the first shot on target certainly doesn’t help. It’s not an excuse, but I saw that we suffered from their physicality and then the boys recovered. The first half was quite difficult, then in the second half we tried to get back into the game.”

In these two matches, having lost both, it is probably also fair to admit that Venezia did something more than you. We cannot cling to mirrors – says Mignani -. It is also true that the two matches were different. I think Palermo would have deserved at least a draw in the first leg and we would have had a different awareness in the second leg.”

“The first match was done well and we conceded a goal on the first dangerous shot. Like today, then I can agree that this match could have been done better. Next season? I think it’s too early to talk about it. This defeat must be assimilated and what this year’s trend has been. We will need to sit down to understand what was done well and what wasn’t”, concluded the rosanero coach.
