The starred restaurant Casa Iozzia closes

VITORCHIANO – The starred restaurant Casa Iozzia and Osteria Basilicò close, Villa San Michele remains open.

«A chapter closes, but the memories and flavors will remain forever in our hearts. Thanks for your support”. Lorenzo Iozzia himself wrote it in a post on the Casa Iozzia Facebook page, announcing the closure.

«It was the year 2006 – he remembers – and I was just 29 years old. At that time I was the owner of another restaurant in the historic center of Viterbo, taken over when I was only 26 years old. When the Vitorchiano structure was presented to me, I was struck by it, the perfect place to create a restaurant and a reception room. And so it was, I took up the challenge with passion, tenacity and a pinch of madness.” «We divided the spaces of the location giving life to 3 peculiar and strong gastronomic identities: Villa San Michele Ricevimenti, Osteria Basilicò and Casa Iozzia in 2017 – continues Lorenzo -. Then came ‘the phone call’, it was November 2018: “Hi, we wanted to invite you to the press conference in Parma for the presentation of the 2019 Guide. It was you: the Michelin Star. Our sacrifices, our battles, our passions, had been recognized nationally and internationally. But then Covid arrived.”

«I will put my experience and a renewed passion – he concludes – in other projects, nothing will be lost. Now we need the courage to stop, the balance to find ourselves and the tenacity to start again.”
