Closure of nursery schools in Como, families’ appeal to the Regional Administrative Court against the Municipality’s decision rejected

Against the decision of the Municipality of Como to close two nursery schools in the city, some parents have tried to appeal to the TAR. The administrative court of Lombardy did not accept the request for suspension of the resolution of Palazzo Cernezzi which sanctioned the closure of the structures in via Passeri and Monte Olimpino.

“Although the result for now is not the one hoped for, the “Como family-friendly” committee intends to thank the many parties involved in this initiative, in particular the appellant families and the law firm, who have worked with courage and determination to defend their rights and in general to leave no stone unturned in opposing the process of progressive erosion of the city’s education system”, comment the leaders of the committee. “We will continue the initiatives because the topic is of crucial importance for our city”, add the representatives of the Committee, who announce an event for Friday 14 June from 4 pm to delve deeper into these topics.

Palazzo Cernezzi specifies that the TAR notes in particular that “given the result of an extension of the service to more users, the motivation for the choice of the municipal council does not appear to be affected by unreasonableness, also considering that the transfer of children to the new headquarters, censored by the appellants, cannot be classified as serious and irreparable damage, as there is no qualified interest of the children in having a neighborhood nursery”.
